The following buildings will be open and docents will be available:
This building serves as the headquarters of the Yaphank Historical Society. The original structure dates to the 1700’s with additions through the 1800’s. It was built by the owner of the saw mill on Willow Lake. The house remained in the Swezey family until 1965, and then it was purchased by Brookhaven Town. This building house our extensive archives as well as four exhibit rooms dedicated to local history. This building is a Town of Brookhaven Landmarked building
Robert Hewlett Hawkins House:
This house was built by Robert Hawkins in 1850 and is furnished as an elegant home in Victorian country style.
The house is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Mary Louise Booth Birthplace:
This small wood shingled half-house is the birthplace of Mary Louise Booth, author, editor, translator, suffragist and abolitionist. Built in 1829, she and her family lived there until they moved to Brooklyn in 1845. The house is restored and interpreted to the year 1845. The house in on the National Register of Historic Places.
St Andrews Church:
Built in 1853 by the Weeks family, a prominent family in Yaphank and Long Island history. St Andrews Church has conducted regular weekly services continuously since that time. It is a copy, with minor changes, of Grace Church, Massapequa The church is on the National Register of Historic Places.
